In Praise of Postcards

It is difficult to express how much I love postcards. They are little pieces of friendship that magically appear in a mailbox full of yuck. They are little windows to a bigger world. They are affordable and they are as fun to send as they are to receive.

I read about them. I make art with them. I make and send postcards that aren’t made of paper.

Wish You Were Here is a mixed media piece that incorporates actual postcards my mother sent to my grandmother during our travels. Even the substrate is a “book” of old coupon postcards.
