Paper Dolls

The popularity of paper dolls has waned with advent of digital and magnetic options, yet they are still in production. Those of us who grew up playing with Tom Tierney’s fabulous collections can appreciate the benefits of the format. Paper dolls are, after all, are familiar to people around the world and they can be easily made. I stumbled across a book for the first time in decades and something clicked.

Collage artist Kelly Schaub (Collage-Lab) made encaustic look easy in her Collage Alphabet instructional series. So I had to give it a try.

Fortunately, The Encaustic Center is about five minutes from home. It is the perfect place to experiment with the medium.
